The Morgan brings you a horse with substance and kind disposition, yet with stylish carriage and refinement not found in other breeds.

We are located near Cavendish, Idaho about 14 miles northwest of Orofino, Idaho.  We have been raising registered Morgan horses on our 600 acre farm, since 1982.

How we got our Cream Ridge prefix.  In the early 1900's, my Grandmother Ada Carey (Pitcher) had a horse and wagon delivery route.   She traveled from her parents ranch 1/2 mile south of where we currently live, to the post office and railroad siding in Lenore 9 miles away, next to the Clearwater river.  She would collect the neighbors cream cans they had for sale along the way.  Then she would pick up the mail from the post office and deliver it on the way home.  The road and ridge became known as "Cream Ridge" from her delivery route.

Cream Ridge Morgans carry some of the finest Champion Reining, Cow Cutting and proven Western Working Morgan bloodlines from the following ranches:

The Jackson Morgan Horse Ranch (Mortana Morgans) in Montana.  Roland Hill's Horseshoe Cattle Co.in CA and his TS Ranch in NV where Ray Hunt got his first cowboy ranch job and personal lessons on the two rein from Mr. Hill (read The Western Horseman magazine article here), the L.U. Ranch in WY and Richard Sellman in TX all used their Morgan horses exclusively to work their large cattle operations.  Ellsworth's Ida-Ho Morgans also used their horses for years as a hunting pack string in the high mountains every fall.

Most old horse trainers say the Quarter Horse used today doesn't have the stamina the Morgan ranch horse did and aren't as nice looking either, read here.  These Morgan horses have proven to be some of the best western working stock horses of any breed.

Congratulations to our son Frank Newman (age 10 in photo) with Cream Ridge Mirzay (age 27 in photo) above, taken in 2011.  This team worked together to win Clearwater County's Top Overall 4-H Horse Project for 2011.  Mirzay is our retired stallion that we gelded at 23.  Frank used him for his 4-H Horse project in 2011.  (photo by Cynthia Beardin taken during 4-H Showmanship class).
